They’d be upbeat about the new concoctions, new combines in political formula; new scams; market mantras. Journalists are busy putting words into the mouth of many honchos, netha’s on various predictions. CPI disagreed with Congress – just to keep up their motto of ‘being anti anything’! etc etc!

What’s the great 60 years story of India?

JUST TAKE A WALK OUTSIDE YOUR OWN HOME AND YOUR BAROMETER WILL TELL YOU!  If we can see it, we’d have reasons to believe that media can see it better. That their pen should speak mighty! But alas!

Terrible filth, hackneyed city roads, poor administration, no hygiene, poverty that will make you guity of your status however hard earned , traffic indiscipline, BPO geeks walking and driving immersed in the cell phone --- many more aspects will cause pain.

Old retired folks dread the road for a walk (unsafe / poor infrastructure), to shop (exorbitant prices). They can only stay indoor and reminisce their days and their ‘Dreamers of Politicians’ who dared to dream and got us the Independence that we are frittering away!

Freedom is being interpreted to put self ahead of others / nation! Behind the steering wheel, at a railway reservation counter – any where, I must get ahead. That’s the goal?!

A driver nudges you on the road and we turn on hot abuses – run him over in the road rage?!

Even the pilgrims – Kankaria Shiva Walkers - who walk miles peacefully carrying water from the Ganges back to their village seem to follow this brutal instant violence. What is it that’s going wrong with we people?!

If one can manage the Muscle Power and combine with Money Power – one is done for the next generation! That’s the winning formula for political leaders who rope in their kith and kin into political lineage, with film personalities, in Municipal wards, councils – anywhere and every where. Under-rated and under performing people assume family posts! The wise and knowledgeable stay under cover adopting a long ‘wait and watch’ mode.

We are 6 decades comfortably behind time that we can afford to now have series of TV time and column space consumed on an issue such as ‘Was Mahatma Gandhi a bad Father?’ and ‘How involved was Panditji with the Lady Mountbatten – emotionally & physically?’

Channels could include in seeking a viewers poll with a messages such as ‘Send in your poll / SMS to 0000 – and win a knife’! In the name of the 60 glorious years of Independence, you can kill yourself, the freedom our fighter’s won us, gains of independence and our own heritage!

We are ready to sell anything now! Even our mothers!

We’ve read and heard so much about the freedom fighters who used the pen and ink to ignite passion of ‘Freedom and Free India’. Where is the mighty pen now? What is it doing?

With all this, India is ready to market itself to the world!

Seriously, its time for introspection and a rebirth!
